What Is Metabolic Age?


Metabolic age is a measure of how well or poorly your body is functioning relative to your actual age. If your metabolic age is lower than your actual age, it means your body is in good health. However, if your metabolic age is higher than your actual age, it’s a sign that you need to improve your rate of metabolism. The most important thing to know about metabolic age is that you're really trying to measure metabolism. 
Muscle Percentage and Metabolic Age
Our muscle mass plays a crucial role when it comes to fitness. As your muscle mass increases, the faster your body is able to burn calories/energy. This will help you decrease your body fat percentage and lower your metabolic age. Keeping track of your metabolic age will give you a signal when it’s best to gain more muscle mass.

A Healthy Diet
 Food is fuel and better fuel makes the engine run more efficiently. Keeping your daily calories in check along with the right mix of macronutrients will help you lower your metabolic age. To build muscles, your body needs protein.Therefore, it is important to include adequate amount of proteins in your diet. Don’t forget you also need carbohydrates and healthy fats. Keep your diet varied and eat enough vegetables in addition to the protein-rich food in order to gain muscle.

Physical Activity
The best way to build muscle is to improve your body’s fat burning ability through resistance training and aerobic conditioning. Aerobic exercise increase oxygen to the tissues and improves overall metabolism. Examples include; brisk walking, jogging etc. Generally, increased exercise helps build muscle tissue, which in turn improves your metabolic age.
